The Battlefords Orcas Swim Club hosted the 2nd Annual Battlefords Winter Sprint Classic speed swimming meet last weekend at the Co-op Aquatic Centre.
Several members of the Orcas team won medals at the event. Alexandria Anderson-Callback had six top six finishes, including three silver medals and one bronze. Taylor Parker finished in the top six five times and earned bronze medals in the 50-metre freestyle and 100-metre freestyle. He also earned a silver medal in the 50-metre backstroke.
Brandon Nord earned a bronze medal in the 50-metre breaststroke and the 100-metre breaststroke. Nord finished in the top six in four other events.
Linsday Reimer won a bronze medal in the 50-metre backstroke and had finished in the top six three more times. Cassidy Serhienko finished in the top-6 three times, including her bronze medal in the 50-metre breaststroke.
Three more swimmers finished in the top six multiple times. Sean Brehon had five; Madison Higgs and Meghan Brehon had three.
Kate Fransoo set six personal best times during the event. Bronlyn Gubbe had three new personal bests, while Reece Sommerfeld had one.
Bjorn Prollius and Katie Serhienko, two local swimmers affiliated with the Saskatoon Lazers, medalled in many events.
