The St. Walburg Eagles are still leaders in the North Saskatchewan River Hockey League, but Willkie won three times on the weekend and gained some ground.

Wilkie sits tied for second place with Turtleford after a busy week of senior hockey.

Something the Outlaws aren't too familiar with is a two-day road trip. They played in Meadow Lake Saturday and Sunday and many of the players stayed in Meadow Lake Saturday night.

Wilkie won both games by 5-3 scores.

Saturday, Andrew Herle, Mark Lorenz, Doug O'Hara, Barrett Penner and Zac Wangler scored while Jared Herle was in net for the win.

Meadow Lake's offence was provided by John Iron, who scored twice, and DJ King.

The two teams were back on the ice Sunday at 1 p.m. with Travis Harrington and Herle both back in net for their respective teams.

Lorne Griffiths scored twice for the Outlaws while Mitch Suchan Will Rathje and O'Hara had the other goals.

Scott Fransky, Cameron Harris and Ashton McIntyre scored for the Meadow Lake in the afternoon game.

Wilkie's other win on the weekend came Friday on home ice over Turtleford. Seven different goal scorers found the back of the net for Wilkie and 13 of the 16 skaters dressed had a point in the 7-6 win.

Turtleford got their offence from Darren Delainey, Kyle Dodgson and Mitch Perkins, who all scored twice.

St. Walburg won twice on the weekend, as they edged Edam 4-3 and beat Maidstone 8-2.

Friday in Edam, St. Walburg's Trevor Bailey and Trent Campbell both scored in regulation and both scored in the shootout on Quinton Gauthier to earn the win. Scott Thompson had the other St. Walburg goal while Brennan Weitzel scored twice and Ryan Roach scored for Edam.

Saturday in St. Walburg, the Eagles jumped to a 3-1 lead after the first period, 6-2 after the second were well in control against Maidstone. Jordan Fuder had three goals and three assists while Campbell had two goals and three assists and Bailey had one goal and five assists.

Maidstone did earn a 6-1 win on the weekend over Paradise Hill. Rory Gregoire, Jason Roberts and Ben Schwartz all scored twice for Maidstone in the win.

Wednesday, Paradise Hill was back on the ice in Edam and the 3 Stars earned the victory. After two goals in the first period, four in the second and two in the third, Gauthier and the 3 Stars skated to an 8-3 win. Mitch Wall and ONeil Baillargeon scored twice for Edam in the win.

This weekend there are five games on the schedule, as most teams have seven to five games remaining in their schedules.
