The Wilkie Outlaws created separation last weekend in the NSRHL. With the St. Walburg Eagles not in action, the Outlaws won twice to extend their lead in the standings to five points.
The Outlaws opened the weekend Friday night with a 5-4 shootout win over the Turtleford Tigers in Wilkie. Lorne Griffiths had two goals in the win for Wilkie. Mitch Suchan and Kyle Wagner also scored for the Outlaws. Adam Schwark led the Tigers with a hat trick. Justin Hougham had the other Turtleford goal.
Wilkie travelled to Meadow Lake and beat the Stampeders 6-5 in a shootout Saturday night.
In other NSRHL action, the Edam 3 Stars defended home ice with a 5-3 win over the Meadow Lake Stampeders Friday night.
Saturday night's action saw Turtleford win 4-3 in overtime on the road in Maidstone against the Jets. Adam Schwark had two goals in the win for the Tigers. Kris Bloom and Matt Krepps also found the back of the net for Turtleford. Chase James, Terence Jorgenson and Ben Scwartz lit the lamp for Maidstone.
The weekend concluded with the NSRHL All-Star game Sunday night as part of SaskEnergy Hockey Weekend in St. Walburg. The NSRHL All-Stars lost to the Rosetown Redwings 3-2. Sheldon Williamson scored both goals for the NSRHL squad.
Wilkie (15-1) stays on top of the standings. St. Walburg (12-3-1) is in second place, followed by Edam (10-6) in third. Meadow Lake (5-8-1), Turtleford (2-12-2) and Maidstone (2-11-1) round out the bottom half of the league.
There are six games this weekend in the NSRHL. Friday night sees the St. Walburg Eagles in Edam to take on the 3 Stars, Meadow Lake travelling to Turtleford and Wilkie hosting Maidstone. All three games start at 8:30 p.m.
Saturday night's games include Edam in Turtleford and St. Walburg welcoming Wilkie into town. The games begin at 8:30 p.m. The third Saturday game is Meadow Lake travelling to Maidstone. Puck drop is 9 p.m.
