Braydon Buziak is heading further west to continue his major junior hockey career.
It was announced on Wednesday evening that the 19-year-old Battleford product had been dealt by the Memorial Cup host Regina Pats to the Victoria Royals as the Western Hockey League trade freeze came to an end following the Christmas break.
Buziak, who was signed by the Pats in Sept. 2016 after playing a season with the Battlefords North Stars, had seven points in 32 games this year after putting up 15 points in 55 games during his rookie campaign.
In exchange for Buziak, the Pats received19-year-old forward Jared Legien and a conditional seventh round pick in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft.
Legien, who is from Pilot Butte, has 33 points in 36 games this year after a 56-point campaign with the Yorkton Terriers last season.
Buziak was expected to make his debut in the Royals lineup Thursday at home against the Prince George Cougars barring any travel issues.
