PeeGee Man River Run

The trails off the North Saskatchewan River were once again alive with activity Sunday morning with the annual PeeGee Man River Run.

The riverbanks off the North Saskatchewan River were once again the scene for great mountain bike racing over the weekend as the PeeGee Man River Run took place May 15 in North Battleford. The event was presented by North West Mountain Bike Club and Phoenix Source for Sports with the top finishers collecting points toward the 2011 Sask Cup.

The trails off the North Saskatchewan River were once again alive with activity Sunday morning with the annual PeeGee Man River Run.

The event was once again sponsored by the North West Mountain Bike Club and Phoenix Source for Sports, and again brought out a strong contingent of participants and supporters alike.

The event attracted participants from across the province and a few from outside Saskatchewan as well in a number of different categories. It was the first event on the Sask Cup MTB tour in 2011, with participants receiving points going towards this season's championship.

Results were as follows:

In the 5-laps Senior Elite Men event, Cory Zetterstrom of Saskatoon finished first in the Senior category with a time of 1:44:11. Jeremy Erdman of Regina was second in the senior category at 1:46:52. Pedro Peralta finished at 1:47:11 for the top time for a Master B category. In total, nine riders competed in this event.

In the 4-lap Senior Elite Women event Susan Clarke of Saskatoon finished first in the senior category with a time of 1:40:33.

There were 21 riders competing in the four-lap Senior Expert Men event, won by Stefan Kendal with a time of 1:31:25, for the best showing in the Master A category. Evin Wishloff of Alberta finished with the top time in the U23 category at 1:33:31.

In the 3-lap Sr. Expert Women race Hannah Cooley of Saskatoon, racing in the junior category, finished first with a time of 1:19:56.

The top finisher in the 3-laps Sport Men event was Mike Power of Saskatoon. He finished with a time of 1:16:23 and rode in the Master C class.

In the 2-lap Sport Women race Kathryn Theede of Saskatoon finished first with a time of 1:05:54, racing in the Master A category.

In the 2-lap Novice Men race, Lukas Conly of Saskatoon, racing in the U15 category, finished with a time of 49:13.

Jake Watter of Vanscoy registered a time of 44:08 in the one-lap Beginner Men race.

Josh Turanich of Emerald Park finished with a time of 33:32 in the one lap Novice Male Youth race. He competed in the U15 category.

And in the one-lap Novice Youth Women event Zoe Schultz of North Battleford finished with a time of 00:42:49.
