The Humboldt Peewee AA Broncos ended a successful season with an 8-5 win over the Warman Wildcats at the Elgar Peterson Arena to capture the Center Four Hockey League Championship. The Broncos won the best-of-three series in two games after winning the opening game 3-2 in overtime.
The team had a very successful season spanning close to 7 months. Over a 56-game season the team lost only eight games, with four of those losses coming to Warman. They attended tournaments in Yorkton, Saskatoon, Prince Albert and Regina, winning the B side in three of those events. The Broncos drew on those experiences to capture the league championship.
In addition to having a great season on the ice, the people surrounding the team were very impressed with how well the players got along at all times, how hard the players worked in practice, and how dedicated everyone was. Team spokesman Lambert Stumborg reported that the second year kids led the way and were very welcoming and accepting of the first year kids from the beginning, which allowed the team to gel and improve throughout the year.
