The Battlefords Peewee A Barons provincial team has already been selected for this season and were in action on the weekend.

The Barons played in Clavet in their first action as a team and earned an exciting tournament championship.

At the Clavet Cougars Tier II Tournament the Barons started out with a loss to the Saskatoon Bobcat Oilers 5-4.

Next, the Barons earned a victory against the host Cougars in a close 2-1 game. The 1-1 record left three teams tied in their pool. The tiebreaker came down to fewer penalty minutes against the Barons and that ultimately helped to land them in the A-side against the Saskatoon Venum Flyers.

The Barons spotted the Flyers a three-goal lead before clawing back to tie the game. The score remained tied and the final game went into a shootout. After three shooters per side nothing changed. In the fourth round, which is sudden death, the Barons scored and grabbed the 4-3 win.

The Barons are also scheduled to attend the Cold Lake tournament at the end of January and weeks after that they will likely begin their run at a provincial A title.
