Prairie Central athletes win 57 medals at Sask. Games

It wasn't the Olympics, but it was Saskatchewan's own version. The Saskatchewan Summer Games were held in Meadow Lake last week, and a large number of local athletes competed in events from athletics to swimming to soccer.

Team Prairie Central, which included athletes from Humboldt and area, ended the games with 57 medals, including 22 gold, 19 silver and 16 bronze.
The male 4x100m relay team won gold, as did Morgan Borstmayer of St. Brieux in the triple jump. Carson Berscheid won gold in the javelin, and the team Prairie Central softball team, which includes players Lisa Prodahl and Payton Voz of Lake Lenore, Martina Moore of LeRoy and Hayli Riach and coach Bill Riach of Nokomis, won gold as well.
The swimmers won a huge number of medals, detailed in a separate story, while the 12 and 13 female triathlon team from Prairie Central won gold, along with the female volleyball team, which included a large number of local players.
Hunter Pickering of Lanigan won silver in the 200m athletics event, and the Team Prairie Central team won silver in the female sprint medley as well.
Morgan Borstmayer claimed a silver in the long jump, and the Team Prairie Central female basketball team won silver, as did the female golf team, and the mixed 12 and 13 triathlon sport relay team.
Hunter Pickering claimed a bronze in the 100m, and team Prairie Central won a bronze in the 4x100m female relay.
The Team Prairie Central soccer team placed fourth, as did the region's triathlon relay team 14 and 15 male.
Colton Slipetz of Humboldt placed fifth in the 100m and Taylor Rueve fifth in the 300m hurdles.
Beth Koshinsky of Jansen placed sixth in the 400m and 800m, and Brett Parsons placed sixth in the 800m.
Cody Sogge of Muenster placed sixth in the pole vault, and Taylor Rueve sixth in the triple jump.
Morgan Borstmayer also placed sixth in the javelin and shot put competitions.
Michelle Breker of Muenster placed seventh in the pentathlon, and Eilish McAnally, seventh in the triathlon for 12- and 13-year-old females.
The Team Prairie Central basketball and baseball teams both placed eighth, as did the male volleyball team.
Colton Slipetz placed ninth in the 200m, and Brett Parsons was ninth in the 1,500 m.
The Team Prairie Central golf team placed ninth, as did Calum McAnally in the 14 and 15 male individual triathlon event.
Zach Rohel placed 12th in the long jump, and Joshua Hogemann was 13th in the 800m.
Michelle Breker finished 13th in the female hammer event, as did Carson Berscheid in the male hammer event.
Morgan Borstmayer finished 13th in the female discus event.
