The John Paul II Collegiate golf team joined 14 other school teams and 73 other male high school golfers in Prince Albert for the provincial grass green golf championship on the weekend.
John Paul II's team of Tyler Cockburn, Trenton Clarke, Brett Benoit and Dylan Dunbar shot 265 on the first day. They were three strokes higher on day two finishing with a 533 and in 12th place.
Tyler had the best individual score on the team with a 186, which was good enough for a tie for 52nd. Trenton and Brett tied at 188 and Dylan had to with draw in his first round.
Unity's Justin Wood was two strokes back of the day one leader and in a tied for fourth place. Justin finished with a two day total of 151 and in a tie for third place. The winner was Zach Hurd of Prince Albert Carlton, as he shot 144. P.A. Carlton also won the team results with a 424 score.
Lashburn's Mikayla Phipps represented the area in the female championship. She finished with a 252 score and in 34th place.
The sand golf championship was also held on the weekend in Canwood, but no golfers from the northwest competed.
The next high school championships will be cross country Oct. 13.
