The seventh tournament of the season for the North Battleford Crush, the U15 girls team, took place April 21 and 22 in Saskatoon.

The Crush competed in the club volleyball provincial championship and looked to add to their impressive season. The Crush won two previous tournaments, won consolation gold, bronze twice and finished only as low as fifth place in any of their tournaments this season, which spanned from November to April.

Provincials were another great showing for the Crush, as they started the tournament with seven wins Saturday. After winning their first round robin pool, all teams were re-pooled and the Crush continued their winning ways.

The playoffs started Sunday, and the Crush won in the quarter-final against Swift Current. In the semifinal, the Crush defeated Waldheim.

In the final, the Crush faced the Regina Royals and forced a third set, but lost a heartbreaker and settled for a well-deserved silver medal.

The coaching staff of Leon Schmidt, Rob Rongve and Gisele Kreuger said the team played incredibly well and teamwork is what got the 11 girls through the weekend undefeated until the final capping off a strong season.

The Crush consisted of girls from the Battlefords as well as one from Hafford, one from Meota and one from Medstead while seven of the 11 payers had played club volleyball before.
