Provincial titles now on the line

Senior AAA - The Lloydminster Border Kings hosted the Rosetown Red Wings in the first game of the semifinal series Sunday. Both teams have several notable players with professional, WHL, CIS and SJHL experience and it showed in the first game.

Senior AAA - The Lloydminster Border Kings hosted the Rosetown Red Wings in the first game of the semifinal series Sunday. Both teams have several notable players with professional, WHL, CIS and SJHL experience and it showed in the first game. Rosetown won game one 5-1 and will have an opportunity to end the series Saturday in Rosetown. The winner advances to face Balgonie in the provincial final. The Border Kings' roster features two former North Stars in Brody Malek and Travis Clayton, who both played in game one of the series, and a local resident in goaltender Jody Lehman.

Senior A - Rosthern/Maidstone needed three games to knock off Bruno in the northern semifinal and now face Shellbrook in the north final. Game one of the series will be Saturday in Rosthern with game two set to go March 9 in Shellbrook.

Senior B - Watrous, Drake, Esterhazy and Shaunavon are the four teams remaining in he provincial draw. The next round needs to be completed by March 14.

Senior C - After beating Wilkie, Macklin lost 5-2 twice to Delisle, who advanced to the northern final.

Senior D - Luseland beat Radisson in their first round, but lost to Kenaston handily. Kenaston, Purcupine Plain, Central Butte and Dinsmore remain in the hunt for a provincial title.

Midget A - After a first round bye, Battlefords will be in action against La Ronge Saturday at 4:45 p.m. at the Civic Centre. Game two of the series is set for March 10 in La Ronge. The winner advances to the provincial final.

Midget B - Spiritwood lost 6-3 and 7-4 to Melfort and failed to make it to the northern final against Delisle. In the southern final, Rosetown and Esterhazy will play off.

Midget C - Edam was bounced from provincials after falling 8-3 and 4-1 to Dodsland in the northern semifinal. Dodsland advanced to play Hudson Bay.

Female Midget AA - The Battlefords Sharks played Saskatoon and lost 2-0 on home ice. In Saskatoon, the Sharks lost 4-0, as Saskatoon advanced to the northern final against Delisle. Delisle beat Dodsland to advance to the northern final.

Female Midget B - Rosetown knocked Neilburg out of provincials after losing game one of the series. Neilburg won 4-2 in the first game, but lost 7-1 in game two.

Bantam A - The Battlefords Barons battled with Swift Current in the first round of provincials and after tying game one 2-2 they beat the Broncos 1-0 to advance to the northern final. The Barons will face Nipawin, but no dates have been set for the series at press time.

Bantam B - Spiritwood beat Kerrobert 6-3 and 4-3 to advance to the northern final against Warman. Melville and Delisle will face off in the other semifinal after Delisle beat Rosetown and Melville beat Redvers.

Peewee A - Battlefords had a first round bye and will now face Yorkton, who beat La Ronge 15-0 and 16-3 in the first round. The Barons' series needs to be completed by March 12 and should start this weekend.

Peewee C - Spiritwood beat Hague 5-3 and 5-2 to advance to the northern final against Wynyard. The winner of that series will play the winner between Gull Lake and Strasbourg.

Peewee D - Wilkie lost 7-3 and 12-1 to Macklin, as the Mohawks advanced to the northern final against Langham.
