Jeff Bridgeman of Unity has accomplished something special.

Bridgeman has qualified to be part of the Canadian Men's Triathlon team which will compete in the ITU World Championship Series Final, a four-day event set to take place from Oct. 18 to 22, 2012 at Queens Wharf, in the heart of Auckland, New Zealand. This is a terrific venue for Bridgeman as he has uncles and aunts in New Plymouth, NZ.

To qualify, Bridgeman participated in an Olympic length triathlon at Pike Lake June 19, which resulted in his qualification for the Canadian Team.Bridgeman started triathlons as part of his self-determination to rehab his torn ACL two years ago.Since then he has participated in many events, including a half ironman in Calgary (1.9 km swim, 90km bike and 21 k run). He has also ran in several marathons (8km to 21km) including the local Candace Heitt memorial run, which was excellent training for him as he stated that it was "the hardest course he has ever ran."

Bridgeman has become an inspiration to his family as a few of them have also started training and participating in triathlons. He trains regularly running and biking, but has a hard time getting his swim training in due to lack of facilities. But fortunately when he is away at school in Saskatoon for eight weeks, he takes advantage of the SIAST facilities. Other than that he will have to travel to North Battleford or Lloydminster to swim during the winter months at the indoor facilities.

Of course the trip doesn't come free.If anyone wants to sponsor Bridgeman in this amazing feat, their company name will be printed on the jersey he wears during competition.
