There weren't any fireworks for the Battlefords AAA Sharks as they played their first games of 2012.

The Sharks were in Regina for two Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League games on the weekend and lost 11-0 and 5-1.

Saturday, the Sharks were tied with Regina after the first period, as Jacy Akre stopped all 13 shots she faced.

The Regina Rebels continued to press and got the offence started with a power play goal less than two minutes into the second period.

The Rebels went on to score three more in the second, and seven goals in the third period. Rachel Mitchell came into the game in relief for Akre for the final 20 minutes.

The Sharks were out shot 51-19 in the loss while Chelsea Perepeluk led the Rebels' offence with three goals and three assists.

Sunday, it was another power play goal that got the Rebels' attack started, this time coming four minutes into the first period.

After trailing 2-0, the Sharks' Delaney Ross scored from Rachel Trach and Taylor Durocher to make it a one-goal game once again. The goal was Ross's fifth goal of the season. That was as close as the Sharks would get, as they trailed 3-1 after the second and lost the game 5-1.

Regina fired 59 shots at Akre in Sunday's game while the Sharks managed just seven shots.

Regina improved to 11-9-0-0 on the season while the Sharks fell to 1-17-0-0.

The Sharks will be at home Thursday to the Prince Albert Bears before going on the road for Saturday and Sunday games in Melville.
