Glen Heidt made his second start of the season and earned his second win Wednesday, as he helped the Battleford Beaver Blues to their fifth win with an 8-3 victory over Hafford.

When you hear the term 'tis the season this time of the year it usually takes on a different meaning than suspension season in the Saskatchewan Prairie Hockey League.

Things have heated up in the last week of the SPHL, as suspensions have been handed out for fighting in the final 10 minutes and other offences.

Maymont faced Hafford Dec. 22 and won 5-3, but players from both sides were suspended after the game got out of hand late and some incidents occurred off the ice while some players were headed to the dressing room.

Nonetheless, when everything was split apart, Shane Chicoine earned the win while Ryan Knapton was saddled with the loss. Ryan Baptiste, Chris Beierle, Mark Kelloway, Kyle Litchwald and Stacey Wandler were the goal scorers for Maymont.

Ryan Schaefer, Darren Poitras and Cody Zyznomirski were the goal scorers for Hafford.

Hafford was also in action Wednesday in Battleford and lost 8-3 to the Beaver Blues. Brett Michnik led the offence with three goals, while Glen Heidt earned his second win of the season.

Also two players per side, Riley Amos and Dakota Tootoosis for Hafford and Les Taylor and Mitch Phillips for Battleford, will miss their next game for fights in the final 10 minutes of the game.

Dec. 21, Glaslyn handed the Beaver Blues their first loss of the season, as Cameron Simkins earned the win and Mitch Hawtin took the loss for the Beaver Blues. Ashton Dymytryshyn, Trent McNabb and Trent and Colin Pylypow scored for Glaslyn.

Michnik, Mitch Phillips and Daxin Collins scored for Battleford.

Dec. 23, Glaslyn won another close one edging Cut Knife by a 3-2 score. Trevor Davies, Dymytryshyn and Greg Zubiak scored for the Glaslyn North Stars while Brayden Bertoia answered with both goals for Cut Knife.

The other Friday night game had Perdue beat Saulteaux 10-6. Garret Poletz netted a hat trick while Jeff Ebel scored twice and Kevin Fick, Clark McNulty, Travis Poletz, Lonnie Reddlick and Dean Williams scored the other goals for Perdue.

Shane Gopher had a hat trick and Shalon Fox had two goals for Saulteaux.

Friday there are three games on schedule with Perdue in Hafford, Saulteaux in Glaslyn and Battleford in Cut Knife.
