Support for the Humboldt Broncos and the community of Humboldt continues pouring in, as the Saskatchewan Roughriders have announced plans to visit Humboldt.
The Riders will be coming to town June 3, and will host a practice on the field at Glenn Hall Park from 12 to 1pm.
During the practice, the Riders organization will host a barbecue lunch for the community, adjacent to the football field.
“While we continue to mourn for all those effected by the devastating event of April 6, we want to demonstrate our ongoing support for the Broncos organization and the community of Humboldt,” said Roughriders president and CEO Craig Reynolds in a press release.
“We have been working in partnership with the Broncos’ organization since the tragedy, hoping to play a small role in assisting the team, victims, the community and entire province through this painful time by channeling the healing power of sport, and by lending the strength of Rider Nation.”
Roughriders players and coaching staff will be on the field for the practice, and after will be available to spend time with fans, taking photos and signing autographs.
“The Broncos are so grateful for the Saskatchewan Roughriders, who have proven to be an invaluable support and resource in recent weeks,” said Kevin Garinger, President of the Humboldt Broncos in the release. “We look forward to June 3, where we aim to bring the spirit of Rider Nation as well as an opportunity to enjoy the optimism for the exciting CFL season ahead, to all those in the community of Humboldt.”
The Roughriders and Broncos are also expected to make a joint announcement on June 3 with details surrounding a Humboldt Strong home game in Regina on
June 30.
That game has been dedicated to the families and victims of the April 6 tragedy.
