Chuckwagons were scheduled to run from Tuesday to Thursday during Northwest Territorial Days, but because of the weather Tuesday fans had just two chances to see the action.

There is a new leader following the Onion Lake event for the Canadian Professional Chuckwagon Association.

Ryan Baptiste now leads the overall driver standings with 350 points, two more than Logan Gorst with 348. Danny Ringuette is third at 343, Ross Knight fourth at 294 and BJ Carey fifth at 293.

The new standings follow the Onion Lake show, which wrapped July 4. There, Ryan Baptiste led the aggregate with a four-day time of 05:14.23, riding for Sunchild Law with outriders Tiegan Larouche and Basil Mosquito.

Gorst was second for PSM Steel at 5:15.08, Todd Baptiste was third for SORE Oilfield at 5:16.44 and Danny Ringuette was fourth for Sure Shot Wireline at 5:18.49.

The Dash title on the final day, however, was won by Todd Baptiste, whose SORE Outfield wagon took the final championship Sunday heat for a winning time of 1.17.26.

Ringuette was second, Ryan Baptiste third and Gorst fourth, with the latter two hit with penalties in that heat. Ryan Baptiste was docked three seconds for an outrider hitting a barrel as well as a late outrider, while Gorst was docked six seconds for the wagon starting ahead of the horn and for the wagon knocking a barrel.

The result from Onion Lake means two events, including Poundmaker in the first week, are in the books on the CPCA schedule. The tour’s next stop begins this weekend with the North America Chuckwagon Championship at the Lloydminster Exhibition Grounds, running July 11 to 19.
