Saskatchewan Winter Games Tuesday recap

The host Rivers West team had another strong day at the Saskatchewan Winter Games Tuesday in North Battleford, as they earned three more medals to sit second in the medal count with 22.

The host Rivers West team had another strong day at the Saskatchewan Winter Games Tuesday in North Battleford, as they earned three more medals to sit second in the medal count with 22.

Medstead’s Sarah Bargen picked up her second gold medal in as many days by winning the U15 female mass start event, which went along with the first place showing she had in the U15 female sprint event held on Monday.

Meanwhile, North Battleford’s Vlad Pristojko joined up with Jessen Brust and Ryley McGarry of Lloydminster to win the male judo team competition to give Pristojko his second medal of the week after winning the bronze medal in the -55 kg male judo event.

Rivers West also won a medal in the female judo team event as Alexis Dugas, Avery McGarry, Brooklyn Bloch-Hansen and Devrie Johnston of Lloydminster picked up a silver.

The first half of the games will wrap up Wednesday with Rivers West guaranteed a medal in the male curling event at the Twin Rivers Curling Club.

Skip Cody Sutherland (Rosetown), vice Doug Sroka (Maidstone), second Bruce Krepps (Maidstone) and lead Jack Reid (North Battleford) will compete in the championship game at 10 a.m. against Daymond Bernath of Saskatoon.
