Score of 36 takes top honours

It wasn't hard to determine who were the winners of the New Horizons golf Monday. Just one team came in with a 36.No surprise, but it was the Whitbreads, Lyle and Jutta, along with a little help from John Yarske and Bruce Dalshaug.

It wasn't hard to determine who were the winners of the New Horizons golf Monday.

Just one team came in with a 36.No surprise, but it was the Whitbreads, Lyle and Jutta, along with a little help from John Yarske and Bruce Dalshaug.Looking at the card it was all pars with the exception of a bogey on one and a birdie on two.

A third of the teams came in with a score of 39 and so it was a count-back to determine second and third place and who missed out. It is interesting that David O'Donnell was the hero of the day by sinking the longest putt of the day to par the ninth hole. Apparently it was only about three-foot putt. All others were probably longer but were drained on the second attempt and unlike the bird they didn't get the worm.

Along with O'Donnell, Merv Zulynik, Don Beggs and Lynn Williams captured second place.

Wally and Bernice Scott along with Norm Soiseth and Jack Goodwin took third place by ousting Art Strueby, Jim Fraser, Fay MacKinnon and Wally Gordey.

Jim Fraser earned an extra ball for coming closest to the pin on eight and O'Donnell gets his car washed courtesy of the Co-op with his second place-clinching putt.

Next week, all golfers will do battle again, this time an hour earlier. The start time is moved up to 8:30 a.m.

Don't be late, come out and get on a team.
