Wednesday marked the start of both semi finals series in the North Saskatchewan River Baseball League.

The first place Lloydminster Meridian Twins took on the fourth place Meadow Lake White Sox in Lloydminster.

The Twins played senior AA provincials last weekend and the White Sox will be heading to A2 provincials this weekend so the teams were scheduled to play just one league playoff game this week.

In a close one, the Twins pulled out a 7-6 victory.

In Wilkie, the second place Brewers took on the third place Lloydminster Junior Redhawks, who finished the regular season with the same record as the Brewers, but lost the head-to-head match dropping them to third place.

The home field advantage proved to pay off for the Brewers, as they won 7-1.

Nick Pernitsky hit a leadoff home run and Cody Wilgenbusch led off the second inning with another solo shot.

Aaron Sittler was the winning pitcher with an unofficial count of 60 pitches in seven innings.

Game two of the series is scheduled for Monday in Lloydminster and if necessary game three will be back in Wilkie Tuesday.

The Twins and White Sox will resume their series Wednesday in Meadow Lake and if necessary the third game will be played in Lloydminster Thursday.
