One of the two teams playing in the Saskatchewan Prairie Hockey League final had two players earn regular season awards for their play during the 2012-13 season.

Spiritwood's Tyson Turgeon was named the most valuable defenceman. Turgeon, the captain for the Timberwolves, had 13 points this season. Turgeon played just nine games for Spiritwood while earning the award. Turgeon is no stranger to being honoured by the senior hockey league he has played in. When Spiritwood played in the North Saskatchewan River Hockey League, Turgeon was named a second team all-star in 2011 and a first team all-star in 2009.

The other Timberwolf to win a regular season award was forward Kyle Brataschuk. Brataschuk led the Timberwolves in scoring with 49 points (28 goals and 21 assists) in 16 games. He scored the most goals this season and was tied for second in the league in points.

Maymont, who finished first overall, had two award winners on their roster this season. Goaltender Spencer Laycock was named the league's most valuable goaltender. Laycock was in his first season with the Settlers and was 7-1 in his eight starts this season. He was third in the league in goals-against average among starting goalies as well.

The other Maymont player to win an SPHL award was forward Kyle Litchenwald. Litchenwald was named the most sportsmanlike player. He led the Settlers in points with 41 and had just four penalty minutes in 16 games this season. Litchenwald was a final cut by the Battlefords North Stars back in September and was a key player in Maymont's regular season finish.

The fifth, and final, regular season award winner was Hafford's Kyle Rivett. Rivett was named the SPHL's top scorer after notching 26 goals and 31 assists for 57 points in 15 games with the Mustangs. Rivett played his first full season with Hafford and helped them to a fourth place finish in the SPHL's regular season.

Just one more individual award will be presented and that will go to the SPHL playoff MVP.

In the three years of the SPHL, no player has been able to repeat as an individual award winner. The only player with two awards is Clark McNulty of Perdue. McNulty won the top scorer and most valuable forward award last season.
