The Battlefords Senior Soccer League semi finals were underway Wednesday night and in three of the four games the results couldn't have be closer.

In the first men's semi final, the second place Athletico played FC Elite and the game went to penalty kicks after the game was tied 3-3. FC tied the game late and capitalized in the shootout and clinched a spot in the final.

Who will they play? In the second semi final game first place Sweetgrass Light went up against the fourth place Mosquito team. Mosquito started the game with the minimum number of players and ended up with nine players and a goalie and it was just enough, as they hung on for the 5-4 win. Mosquito dominated the second half and, after Sweetgrass scored, Mosquito answered back with a goal in the next minutes which stood up to be the winner. Mosquito and FC Elite were scheduled to play the final Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the track.

On the women's side, the Athletics went up against the Sweetgrass Chick with Kicks at the track. The Athletics dominated the game as Sweetgrass were short staffed and couldn't capitalize on their scoring chances early. The final score was 6-0. In the second women's semi final game, Little Pine Ladies played Saulteaux and this game also was decided by one goal. The game was tied 4-4 and after the penalty kicks Little Pine prevailed scoring three times and sending the first place team to the championship game. The women's final was set for Thursday at 5:45 p.m.
