The Battleford Beaver Blues have just one loss on the season and they will get a chance this weekend to rectify that loss.

The Beaver Blues sit at 7-1-0-0 this season while Maymont is perched at the top of the Saskatchewan Prairie Hockey League with an 8-0-0-0 record.

The top two teams will face off Sautrday in Maymont for the second of three matchups this season.

The Beaver Blues lead the league in goals scored with 70 and goals against with just 22, but the when all the numbers are added up they understand the only statistic that matters is the one in the win column.

The Beaver Blues faced Saulteaux in a game that featured a check from behind and a multi-fight situation in front of the benches Wednesday, but when everything was said and done the Beaver Blues earned the 11-4 win.

Jean Fauchon started in net for Saulteaux while Job Rose was the goaltender for the Beaver Blues.

Battleford also beat Cut Knife 6-0 Friday, which gave Mitch Hawtin the first SPHL shutout of the season. Keegan Sparrow scored three goals, while Brett Michnik had two and Roddy Hoffman had the other. Daxin Collins chipped in with four assists.

Tuesday, the Maymont Settlers remained on the top of the SPHL standings with a 6-3 win in Perdue over the Pirates.

Maymont's Stacey Wandler had a goal and three assists while Kenton Albert and Kyle Litchenwald had a goal and two assists each. Kinley Sevick, Scott Swain and Sheldon Tebay also scored for the Settlers.

Clark McNulty had two goals for Perdue while Colby Doetzel had the other.

Mat Leitner earned the win in the Maymont net.

Perdue also played Friday in Hafford and won 11-4. McNulty, who leads the league in scoring with 28 points in eight games, had four goals and four assists in the win over the Mustangs. Garret Poletz, who is second in the league, had two goals and two assists.

The other Friday night score had Cameron Simkins backstop Glaslyn to a 7-1 win against Saulteaux. Ashton Dymytryshyn had a hat trick and an assist while Jordan Dymytryshyn had two goals and two assists. Adrian Edwards and Mike Windsor had the other Glaslyn goals.

Brett Night scored for Saulteaux.

Along with the first place matchup Saturday in Maymont, there are four other games on the weekend schedule with Cut Knife in Saulteaux, Glaslyn in Hafford, Perdue in Glaslyn and Radisson in Hafford, as the SPHL moves into the final month of the regular season.
