The SFMAAAHL's Battlefords Sharks fell to the Regina Rebels in a game that was extremely close despite the distance in the standings between the two teams.

The Sharks, who are currently ranked last in the league, went down early, with a goal from Andie Wilyman 17 seconds in putting Regina up by one. But the Sharks rallied, and an unassisted goal from Morgan Lamontagne with eight minutes left in the period tied the game up.

The score stayed tied until four minutes into the third period, when Emma Waldenberger scored from Nikki Watters-Matthes and Melissa Murray to put Regina up by one. The Sharks couldn't respond, and the game ended 2-1.

The Sharks' Jacy Akre was, as always, a phenomenon in net, ending with a .956 save percentage after turning away 44 out of 46 shots. The Rebels' Rae McClintock, by contrast faced 13 shots and turned away 12.

The win extends the Rebels' win streak to 6, and was the Sharks' second straight loss. After 15 games, the Sharks have only seven points on the season, three points down from Swift Current, who have played 17 games.
