The Battleford AAA Sharks hosted Swift Current on the weekend and had some stellar goaltending and defence, but the offence couldn't execute.
The Sharks were at home to the Wildcats and scored just once in two games, but did earn a single point in an overtime loss.
Saturday, the Sharks were outshot 46-19 and Jacy Akre made 44 saves through three periods and more than four minutes of overtime.
Both teams scored power play goals in regulation, the Wildcats scored in the first period and Latashea Frohlich scored unassisted in the second period for her first of the season.
With 35 seconds left in overtime Swift Current scored to earn the win.
The next night, Akre was again the star for the Sharks, as she faced 31 shots. The Sharks mustered 34 shots, but were shut out and lost 2-0.
The Sharks were 0/4 on the power play Sunday and 1/14 on the weekend while the Wildcats were 1/9.
The two wins on the weekend for Swift Current move them six points ahead of the Sharks in the standings. The Sharks sit eighth in the Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League standings with a 1-7-1-1 record.
Next on the schedule for the Sharks are Saturday and Sunday games in Notre Dame against the Hounds, the team the Sharks have beat this season.
The Sharks are now preparing for a long stretch away from their home arena, as the teams next home game is Jan. 19.
