The Battlefords AAA Sharks took to the ice on the weekend in a attempt to get back on the winning track, but they met up with a talented Weyburn Gold Wings team.
Saturday, Jacy Akre was named the Sharks' player of the game, as she faced 23 in the first period, 19 in the second and 11 shots in the third period. Akre made 48 saves while the Sharks fell 5-0.
Caitlin Dempsey had three goals and an assist, while Tessa Wilson had a goal and two assists and Jolene Kirkpatrick and Jenica Whitrow had two assists each for the Golden Wings.
It was a penalty filled game as the Golden Wings were 2/13 on the power play and the Sharks were 0/11.
Jane Kish made six saves for the shutout win.
Sunday, Sharks evened out the shots and the score, but still lost.
The game was tied 0-0 after the first period and Weyburn eventually captured the 3-1 victory.
Emily Wilson scored for the Sharks in the third period with Shania Rhinehart and Rachel Trach assisting on Wilson's first goal as a Shark.
Akre and Kish were again in net for their respective teams.
The schedule doesn't appear to get much easier for the Sharks, as they are set to host the first overall Regina Rebels Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at noon. These games will be the Sharks first at home since Nov. 25.
