The Humboldt Broncos took a tough 2-1 shootout loss to the Melville Millionaires on Nov. 1. It was the team's first extra time loss this season.
The first two periods were scoreless, with Humboldt getting two more shots on net than Melville.
The Millionaires took a 1-0 lead halfway through the third period on a goal by TJ Reeve and were still clinging to that lead when Jarrett Fontaine tied things up for the Broncos with just 32 seconds remaining. After a scoreless overtime, the Broncos went to their first shootout of the season.
Fontaine was the first shooter and scored, but was matched by Reeve for Melville. Both Cody Pongracz and Logan Sproule missed for Humboldt and Kevin Walz scored to secure the extra point for Melville. Despite the tough loss, Humboldt still earned one point thanks to the shootout loss. Ryland Pashovitz was again very solid in net, stopping 37 of 38 shots he faced.
The Broncos return home on Nov. 6 for a game at 7 p.m. against the Nipawin Hawks before heading to Flin Flon for a back-to-back set on the weekend.
