Robyn Silvernagle is one win away from having the chance to represent Saskatchewan at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts.
Her Twin Rivers Curling Club rink clinched a berth in Sunday’s Viterra Scotties women’s provincial playdowns final with a thrilling 9-7 extra-end win over Saskatoon’s Stefanie Lawton Saturday night in Melville during the 1 vs. 2 Page playoff game.
Silvernagle, who is joined on her team by third Dayna Demers, second Cristina Goertzen and lead Kara Thevenot, jumped out to a 6-1 lead after five ends but saw Lawton cut the gap down to a single point after a steal of three points in the seventh end.
After Lawton tied the game up in the tenth end with two points, Silvernagle made a pair of great shots in the extra frame to pick up the victory.
Next up for the rink, who finished first in the round-robin with a 7-1 record, is the championship game at 5 p.m. Sunday.
Their opponent will be the winner of the semifinal at noon between Lawton and Moose Jaw’s Penny Barker.
Barker, who cruised to a 9-3 win over Biggar’s Brett Barber earlier in the day in a tiebreaker game, stole two points in the final end to defeat Saskatoon’s Nancy Martin in the 3 vs. 4 Page playoff game Saturday night.
