A pair of wins on Wednesday has put Robyn Silvernagle in a good position at the Viterra Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Melfort.

Silvernagle, who is joined on her Twin Rivers Curling Club rink by third Jolene Campbell, second Dayna Demers and lead Kara Thevenot, has a 3-1 record and is tied for first place at the provincial playdowns with Regina’s Chantelle Eberle.

After splitting her first two games of the tournament, Silvernagle picked up a 7-6 extra-end win over Carlyle’s Candace Chisholm and followed that up with a 7-4 triumph over Saskatoon’s Sherry Anderson.

The team is back in action Thursday at 2 p.m. against Stefanie Lawton’s 3-2 rink from Saskatoon and will then take Nancy Martin’s 2-3 Saskatoon squad, which is being skipped by Taryn Holtby while Martin competes at the Olympic Mixed Doubles Trials in Portage la Prairie, Man.

The top four teams in the round-robin will advance to the playoff on Saturday, with the championship contest taking place Sunday at 5 p.m.

The winner of the provincials will then go on to represent Saskatchewan at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Penticton, B.C. from Jan. 27 to Feb. 4.
