Saskatchewan is all done at the Western Canada Cup in Nanaimo, B.C.

The SJHL champion Yorkton Terriers lost 1-0 Sunday afternoon to the AJHL champion Brooks Bandits, and with that loss the Terriers were eliminated in their quest to advance to the RBC Cup in 2013.

Brooks, ranked number one in the entire Canadian Junior Hockey League standings, took the second of two spots available from the West in the RBC Cup in Summerside, P.E.I.

Saturday night, it was the BCHL champion Surrey Eagles who defeated Brooks 4-1 to claim the inaugural Western Canada Cup title and a berth in the RBC Cup tournament.

Meanwhile, in the matchup between the third and fourth teams, the Terriers won their elimination game against the host Nanaimo Clippers Saturday by a 5-3 count. The MJHL champion Steinbach Pistons were eliminated earlier in round-robin play.

That set up the elimination game Sunday between Brooks and Yorkton to determine the second and final RBC Cup berth from the West. Even though a Western Canada Cup title was no longer on the line, both teams still had much to play for.

The only goal of the game was scored at 11:27 of the second period, as Mark Logan scored from Madison Dunn to make it 1-0.

That score would hold up as Brooks' netminder Michael Fredrick stopped all 23 Yorkton shots fired at him to preserve a 1-0 shutout victory. Dawson MacAuley stopped 19 of 20 in the defeat for Yorkton.

Logan was named the first star for Brooks while Devon McMullen was named star of the game for Yorkton.

After starting the tournament with two wins, Yorkton wound up with a three-win, three-loss record for the Western Canada Cup.

With the results from this weekend, the field is now set for the RBC Cup that opens play May 11.

Joining Brooks and Surrey on the trip to Summerside will be the Truro Bearcats (Maritime Hockey League runners-up) as well as the Minnesota Wilderness of the Superior International Junior Hockey League. Minnesota is the first Junior A squad from the United States to compete for the RBC Cup title.

Also in the five-team field are the Summerside Western Capitals. While they qualified for the tournament automatically as the host club, the Capitals enter RBC Cup play as league champions after defeating Truro in five games to claim the Maritime Hockey League title.
