The NBCHS boys curling team coached by Evan Reid, who coached a provincial winning team skipped by Jamey Jordison when he taught in southern Saskatchewan, are hoping they can continue their success and bring home provincial gold. Along with Reid are lead Taylor Primeau, second Morgan Hadly, third Dion Tederoff and skip Cole Tenetiuk.

Regional high school curling took place across the province on the weekend and now the top teams have slid through to provincials.

The North Battleford Comprehensive High School boys' team continued their momentum after making it to the final of the Unity men's bonspiel. Along with a second place finish there the NBCHS team skipped by Cole Tenetiuk captured the Battlewest District gold medal and most recently regional gold in Unity last weekend.

Tenetiuk along with teammates Dion Tederoff, Morgan Hadly and Taylor Primeau will be one of eight boys teams in Weyburn March 2 and 3 for provincials.

The NBCHS boys won their first game at regionals in six ends with a 9-1 win over Saskatoon Holy Cross. Next NBCHS beat St. Walburg after a forfeit due to their opponents not having enough players to ice a team. In the final, NBCHS went up against Wilkie and won 5-3 to earn the gold and a spot at provincials.

Wilkie had a second chance to advance to provincials, but lost to Holy Cross 9-3 and were eliminated.

Girls' regional playoffs were in Wilkie on the weekend. Wilkie, Saskatoon Mahoney, Turtleford, Martensville, Saskatoon St. Joseph, Spirtiwood, Hanley and Loon Lake were all playing off for the two provincial spots.

St. Joseph beat Turtleford in the final 5-1 and Loon Lake stole a point in an extra end against Turtleford to earn the second berth in provincials.

The host team lost their first game, won their second and was eliminated after a loss to Loon Lake. Spiritwood lost their first two games in the double knockout tournament to have their season come to an end.

In mixed curling, Unity and NBCHS met in the B-side final with the winner advancing to provincials. The host team, Unity, won 9-2 to earn their way to Weyburn while NBCHS settled for regional bronze. Neilburg and St. Walburg were also represented at the mixed regional playdowns.
