The Battlefords North Stars moved up a spot in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League's Source Embroidery Power Rankings this week and were one of the few teams to move.

The top three spots in the rankings stayed the same with Flin Flon leading the pack followed by Humboldt and Notre Dame.

Yorkton and Melville switched places with the Terriers leapfrogging their southern rivals for fourth in the rankings.

The North Stars sit just one game under .500 and moved form eighth to seventh thanks to an offensive surge by their young forwards.

Estevan, La Ronge, Melfort, Kindersley and Weyburn round out the bottom of the league rankings.

In the Canadian Junior Hockey League's weekly top 20 rankings, Flin Flon remains in the second spot behind the Brooks Bandits. Humboldt and Melville are also both on the list at 14 and 7 with the Broncos moving up the list and the Millionaires falling towards the bottom. Yorkton and Notre Dame received honourable mentions meaning five of the SJHL's 12 teams are earning national recognition, which is more than any other league across Canada.

SJHL Players of the Week

Joey Davies of the Humboldt Broncos is proving why he is considered one of the best players in the league, as he earned his third straight player of the week honour. Davies had three goals and four assists in three games last week. Davies was leading the league with 18 goals and 16 assists in 22 games.

From Davies to Davis. Davis Jones, the Nipawin Hawks goaltender that many in the Battlefords are familiar with after his performance in the playoffs last season against the North Stars was named the goaltender of the week. Jones won both his starts last week including a 24-save shutout against Melville and 2-1 win over Humboldt. He has eight wins on the season.

The SJHL's defenceman of the week is Chase Norrish or the Yorkton Terriers. Norrish had a goal and two assists in four games.

The rookie of the week was Same Aulie, a forward with the Notre Dame Hounds. Aulie had two goals and an assist in the week. The assist came in Notre Dame's comeback attempted against the North Stars at the Civic Centre. Aulie has 11 goals and 10 assists in 21 games with the Hounds.
