The Saskatchewan Prairie Hockey League saw a total of six games in the last week.
Dec. 14, the first-place Spiritwood Timberwolves defeated the Cut Knife Colts by a score of 4-1, the first regulation-time loss the Colts have suffered all season. Scoring for the Timberwolves were Kyle Brataschuk, who leads the league in goals and also received three assists in the game, Colten Anderson, Tyson Turgeon and Todd Turgeon. Scoring the only goal for the Colts was Jordan Noble.
Also Dec. 14, the Glaslyn North Stars, who had yet to win a game, hosted the fourth-place Hafford Mustangs. The Mustangs prevailed 5-2, with goals from Patrick Gauthier, Todd Forbes and Ryan Schafer, and two goals from Kyle Rivett. Jesse Bannerman and Trent McNabb scored for the North Stars.
The Colts were in action again Dec. 15, in Battleford against the Beaver Blues. The Colts lost their second straight, bumping the Beaver Blues ahead to a tie for first place in the league and pushing the Colts down to third. Jordan Keller got two goals and two assists in the game, and Keegan Sparrow, Dillon Friesen and Daxin Collins each picked up one. Ashton Hewson picked both of the Colts' goals.
Also playing Saturday were the Maymont Settlers and the Radisson Wheatkings. Maymont defeated Radisson in the game by a 6-4 score, with a goal each from Keenan Bettis and Chad Bernier. Kyle Litchenwald and Kinley Sevick each scored two goals. Scoring for the Wheatkings were Troy Rookes, Brad Wanner, Blaine Mirasty and Frankie Moosoomin.
The third game Saturday was a close one between the Glaslyn North Stars and the Perdue Pirates. Glaslyn picked up their first win of the season against the Pirates, who have yet to win a game, by a score of 7-6. Jordan Dymytryshyn picked up two goals for Glaslyn, and Dallas Abbott, Mathew Arsenault, Jesse Bannerman, Brett Night and Mitchell Schneider also picked up goals. Scoring for the Pirates were Kevin Fick, Garret Poletz, Chad Weir, Clark McNulty and Keaton Silvernagle, who picked up two. Clark MeNulty's three points in the game ensured that he remains the points leader for the league.
Tuesday, the Maymont Settlers defeated the Hafford Mustangs by a score of 9-7. Colby Beierle picked up a hat trick and two assists for the Settlers, Keenan Bettis and Kyle Litchenwald both picked up two goals and Vince Sauvie and Kinley Sevick each picked up one. Scoring two for the Mustangs were Ryan Schafer, who also had four assists, and Shane Gopher. Justin Babiy, Kyle Rivett and Lee Gardipy each scored one for the Mustangs. Maymont's win leaves them with a 2-1 record, and a tie for fifth in the league. The Mustangs are now 3-2 and ranked fourth.
