Spiritwood falls in provincial curling championships

The Spiritwood boys' curling team were unable to get out of their pool at the SHSAA Provincial Curling Championships last weekend. Spiritwood lost their opening match 11-6 to eventual runner-up St. Joseph High School from Saskatoon.

The Spiritwood boys' curling team were unable to get out of their pool at the SHSAA Provincial Curling Championships last weekend.

Spiritwood lost their opening match 11-6 to eventual runner-up St. Joseph High School from Saskatoon. In their second game, Spiritwood fell 6-4 to Weyburn. They were defeated 8-1 in their third match by the Haines rink from Dr, Martin LeBoldus Catholic High School in Regina, who eventually won the championship.

Maryfield won the third place playoff in the boys' draw by beating Colonsay 7-2.

The girls' championship was held in Hanley and the hosts went away with the top prize. Hanley defeated Esterhazy 7-4 in the championship match to finish the playdowns undefeated. Lumsden downed Meadow Lake 6-4 to finish in third place.

In the mixed championships in Martensville, Kelliher won the title by beating Debden 12-8 in the finals. Strasbourg defeated Yorkton Regional High School 10-3 in the third place match.
