Two different situations are playing out on the men’s and women’s leaderboard at the 2017 Gold Eagle Provincial Seniors Golf Championship at the North Battleford Golf and Country Club heading into the third and final round of play Thursday.
Following the second round Wednesday, Ken Rodgers of Regina holds a four shot lead over Dave Wilson of North Battleford in the men’s standings, while Lloydminster’s Jo-Anne Schiller and Moose Jaw’s Lorie Boyle are tied for first place in the women’s event.
After shooting a round of three-under 69 Tuesday, Wilson shot a one-over 73 in the second round for a two-day total score of two-under par.
Wilson, who cut the gap down by a stroke and has a two-day total of two-over par, had the best performance by any golfer in the second round with an even-par 72.
Wilson’s even-par round of 72 was the best of the day by any golfer.
Regina’s Rick Ledingham is in third place at five-over, while Keith Silvernagle of Biggar and Frank Enns of Saskatoon are tied for fourth at eight-over.
With just a one-shot lead after Tuesday, Schiller shot an eight-over 82 to remain in the lead with a two-day total score of 18-over par.
Boyle, who has won seven provincial titles and is the defending champion, moved into a tie for the lead with a seven-over 81.
Tammy Bezaire of Warman is in third place at 19-over, while Sue Skinner of Rosetown sits in fourth at 20-over.
Saskatoon’s Ann Kirklan matched Boyle for the low round of the day and is in fifth place at 21-over par.
Cheryl Hartl of North Battleford is in ninth place with a two-day score of 32-over par.
The third and final round will get underway with the men’s event at 7 a.m., while the final pairing of Rodgers, Wilson and Ledingham will tee off at 12:10 p.m.
The women’s field will take to the course at 10:40 a.m., with the final group of Schiller, Boyle and Bezaire getting underway at 11:30 a.m.
