Stars earn three of four weekend points

Saturday, Carter Danczak scored his 21st of the season, Kihisis Derocher netted his 17th, Regan Yew earned his eighth goal and Blake Young his 11th of the season. All were scored in the first period for the Stars.

Young scored again in the second, as did Eric Pfeifer, who earned his second of the season putting the visiting team comfortably in front.

In the third, Yew scored his second shorthanded goal of the game while Tyson Empey finished the scoring with his eighth of the season.

The Stars scored one power play goal on their 14 man advantages while also adding three shorthanded goals on the night.

Nigel Detbrenner-Rempel was sharp in the Stars' net as he made 35 saves for his first Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League shutout and his sixth win of the season.

Sunday, the Stars' offence was on once again, but this time they couldn't hold the lead. Brody Tatchell and Derocher scored in the first period while the Harvest added a shorthanded goal making it 2-1 after 20 minutes.

In the second frame, both teams scored once. Danczak, the Stars leading scorer, struck again, reaching 40 points on the season by the end of the weekend.

The third period was a wild one, as Derocher, Brock Weston and Reece Fenrich all scored for the Stars to put them in front 6-3.

Yorkton started the comeback with 5:10 left in the third period. After a penalty shot with 1:12 remaining, the Harvest forced a tie and sent the game to overtime.

In overtime, Yorkton completed the comeback with 1:15 left to play moving four points ahead of the Stars in the standings.

Detbrenner-Rempel was in net for Sunday's game and faced 47 shots in the loss.

Tuesday, the Stars were in Saskatoon to take on the Contacts and Thursday they will be at home to the Blazers. After that they will have three games remaining as they sit at 7-30-1-1 and out of a playoff spot.
