It's official, the Battlefords Midget Stars will not make the playoffs for the eighth straight season.

The Stars lost twice on their southern road trip, as they fell 6-4 to the Notre Dame Hounds and 5-0 to the Regina Pat Canadians to have their slim playoff hopes crashed.

Sunday, Blair Mahon faced 34 shots while the Stars managed 21 in the 5-0 loss.

That was the sixth time, third in the month of January, that the Stars have been shutout this season.

The Pat Canadians scored once in the first period and in the third, added three power play goals and a shorthanded marker to earn the victory.

Regina was 3/13 with the man advantage while the Stars were 0/9.

Saturday, the power play was much stronger and the Stars started the scoring, as Blake Young scored his 10th of the season from affiliated player Keifer Hintz and Ashton Clark.

Notre Dame answered with three goals in the first period to take the lead.

Battlefords had a strong second period, scoring three times and reclaiming their one-goal lead.

Robin Yew scored his second of the season off a power play from Brody Tatchell and Tyson Empey.

Five minutes later, Carter Danczak scored his 20th of the season from Zachary Nedelec and Kihisis Derocher.

Nearly two minutes later, and on another power play, Empey scored his seventh of the season from Eric Pfeifer and Tatchell.

The Stars surrendered three third period goals, including an empty net marker and had the win stolen from them.

Mahon faced 42 shots in the loss.

The Stars are 20 points out of a playoff spot and have just seven games remaining meaning the final seven games are simply for pride, development and evaluations for Lorne Nielsen and his coaching staff.

The Stars will take their 6-30-1-0 record to Yorkton Saturday and Sunday and they will be in Saskatoon Tuesday before finishing the season with four straight games at home.
