The Battlefords AAA Stars just couldn't get things rolling Tuesday in Prince Albert.
The PA Mintos ended up winning easily over the Stars by a 6-3 count in action at the Art Hauser Centre.
The Mintos put the Stars in a hole right from the get-go in the game. At the 4:08 mark in the first period Kylar Hope got things rolling for the Mintos with the first goal of the game from Bryton Sayers and Justin Boyer.
Goals from Joel Blaquiere and Kody White followed to put Prince Albert up 3-0. Finally, Troy Gerein's unassisted marker gave the Stars their first goal of the game with 4:13 to go, and that was the score after one.
In period two the Stars made a game of it as Ryan Frehlick scored from Regan Yew and Eric Pfeifer to make it 3-2. But the Mintos came back with three straight goals after that with markers from Lance Yaremchuk and Justin Boyer. With 4:42 remaining in the second and with the Mintos' Bryton Sayers in the box for holding, the Mintos' Joel Blaquiere scored a shorthanded goal from Adam Osczevski to make it 6-2 Mintos.
The final goal of the period came with 2:12 remaining as Austin Duzan scored from Frehlick and Pfeifer to make it 6-3.
That would be the extent of the scoring in the game. Blaquiere was star of the game for the Mintos while Pfeifer took the nod for the Stars.
Lane Michasiw stopped 23 of 26 in the win for PA while Ryan Toth stopped 36 of 42 in what was a busy evening for him in the Stars' net.
Despite the loss the Stars remain in good shape in the overall standings. The loss dropped the Stars record for the year to 13-8-2-1 for 29 points, in fourth place in the SMAAAHL.
The Stars were scheduled to play at Beardy's Thursday night and in Notre Dame Saturday as they continued their road trip. Their next home game is Dec. 22 against Saskatoon Contacts at the Civic Centre.
