Two second period goals were all the Battlefords Stars needed Thursday in Saskatoon as they picked up a 2-0 win over the Saskatoon Blazers at the Rod Hamm Memorial Arena.

Dylan Esau and Matt Allardyce both found the back of the net in the win, which was the second in a row for the Stars, while Ian Hillis assisted on both goals.

Joseph Young earned player of the game accolades as he made 26 saves for his first shutout of the year.

Matthew Pesenti made 23 saves in the loss.

The Stars, who have a 3-4 record and are tied for eighth in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League standings, will host the Blazers Tuesday in a 7:30 p.m. contest at the Civic Centre.
