The Battlefords Midget Stars continue to prepare for the 2012-13 Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League season, as they won their second exhibition game in a row Wednesday.
The Stars were on the road against the Beardy's Blackhawks and skated to a 3-1 win.
The Stars scored three times in the second period. First it was Kent Walchuk scoring unassisted while shorthanded. On a power play, Regan Yew scored from Eric Pfeifer. Troy Gerein added the insurance later in the period, as he was set up by Yew and Kristian St. Onge.
Beardy's scored once in the third period, beating Ryan Rewerts who made 20 saves in the night. Rylan Toth stopped all 10 shots he faced in the first half of the game.
Beardy's put themselves down shorthanded nine times while the Stars killed off five Blackhawks' power plays.
The Stars were scheduled to play their final home exhibition game Thursday at the Civic Centre against the Saskatoon Blazers. The Stars finish the exhibition season Tuesday in Saskatoon against the Contacts.
