The first football games of the 2012 season in the Battlefords were underway Tuesday.

No, it wasn't the North Battleford Comprehensive High School Vikings or the John Paul II Collegiate Crusaders or Battlefords Minor Football - it was the North Battleford Touch Football League.

The league was down from eight teams last season to six this year, as the Huskies are looking to defend their title from 2011.

Along with the changes to schedule due to teams leaving the league, there were some minor critiques made to the rules as well for the year.

Once all the details were worked out, the teams hit the field.

Tuesday, at Centennial the Huskies won their game 48-6 over the Western Can Slammers. The Gophers won 20-0 over the Broncos at Holy Family Field. The Rhinos downed the Fumblers 20-6 at Kinsmen Park.

The teams were back in action Thursday and will play two more games at the same time before hopping on to the grass at Beaver Lions Stadium where the schedule is set up to play three games in a row starting at 6:30 p.m. and finishing under the lights.
