RCMP is reminding students and parents to look both ways before crossing the road, and to be careful in school zones.

On Monday, Jan. 29, at approximately 8:54 a.m., the Battlefords Detachment of the RCMP along with the Battleford Fire Dept and EMS were called to a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.

RCMP say investigation revealed that a white van had been travelling on 24th Street in Battleford. It had pulled over to the side of the road and a young boy jumped out of the side door, running around the van and into the street. The youth ran directly in front of another van that was travelling at a low rate of speed while passing the first van.

The youth did not look either way before running out in front of the van, say RCMP.

The youth suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital as a precaution.

There are no charges pending in this matter.
