The Lanigan Lazer football team travelled to Broadview for their season opener on September 14. The game was one which would make any defensive coach cringe as both teams scored early and often.Lanigan opened the scoring on their first drive and didn't look back offensively. Broadview, however, seemed to always have an offensive answer of their own until Lanigan was able to pick off a pass and put a major score on the board shortly after.From that point on, the point gap widened and in the second half both teams were able to give some very valuable experience to their backups and rookies. To call this game a shootout would be very appropriate, as neither team sent their punter onto the field for the entire game.Lanigan forced some turnovers on third-down stands, then got a pick and a fumble recovery to get the ball back. Their only blemish in a perfect offensive performance was a lost fumble deep in Broadview's end.Lanigan would like to thank Broadview who were excellent hosts and appreciated the size of their crowd that came out to support their team as the bleachers were full and the spectators seemed to be having a good time.The final score of the game was 61-44 for Lanigan.
