Golfers swing away on the ninth hole Wednesday, as golf season in the Battlefords is underway once again.

Easter weekend marked the beginning of the golf season at the North Battleford Golf and Country Club.

Although the weather wasn't ideal for golf on the weekend golfers took to the course and already say it appears to be in good shape.

Dana Johnson, director of golf at North Battleford Golf and Country Club said opening day was a week to 10 days earlier than usual, but they are ready for the season.

The golf course had two temporary greens operating earlier in the week, but Johnson said perhaps by the weekend all the greens may be ready to go.

Wednesday was the first day carts were permitted on the course and now it is just a matter of the maintenance and ground workers to beautify the course.

Discount rates have been offered because of the temporary greens, and there are still spring discount prices for a round.

Johnson said the best way to find out about prices and tee times is to call the pro shop at 937-5659.

The NBGCC board of directors continues to raise the final money for the new irrigation system that was completed last summer and everyone expects it to be a busy and exciting season at the North Battleford Golf and Country Club.

The first event of the season will be the spring scramble April 28 and 29.
