While five teams continue to battle for the RBC Cup in Humboldt 10 players are in the hunt for the honour as the best player in the Canadian Junior Hockey League.
Ten nominees for the Canadian Junior Hockey League's player of the year have been announced and Blake Tatchell of the Battlefords is one of them.
Tatchell led the Battlefords North Stars' offence in 2011-12, finishing second in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League scoring race with 86 points (42 goals, 46 assists). Tatchell was named the SJHL's MVP, as he helped the North Stars to the second best record in the SJHL and one of the franchise all-time best seasons.
Next season, Tatchell's hockey journey will take him away from home for the first time. The 20-year-old forward will head north to the University of Alaska-Anchorage, continuing his hockey career with the Nanooks after accepting a scholarship.
Joining Tatchell on the CJHL's elite list are Peter Quenneville of the Sherwood Park Crusaders in the AJHL, Bryon Katapaytuk of the Fort Frances Lakers in the SIJHL, Christian Finch of the Stouffville Spirit in the OJHL, Paul De Jersey of the Prince George Spruce Kings of the BCHL, Craig Cowie of the Nepean Raiders in the CCHL, Jordan Carrol of the Sudbury Cubs in the NOJHL, Tim Campbell of the Woodstock Slammers of the Maritime Hockey League, Vincent Blanchette of the College Francais De Longueuil of the LHJAAAQ and Jayson Argue of the Swan Valley Stampeders of the MJHL.
The winner of the CJHL Player of the Year will be announced Friday in Humboldt at the RBC tournament awards banquet.
