SYDNEY, N.S. — The Robyn Silvernagle team has been eliminated in the semifinals of the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Sydney.
Team Saskatchewan lost to Ontario and Rachel Homan 9-7 on Sunday, setting up an Alberta-Ontario final in the evening.
Homan broke open a tight game with four points in the sixth end and was in control from there. Ontario built a 6-2 lead, but the Saskatchewan team never quit, scoring three in the seventh end to get back to within one. Then after Homan scored two in the eighth, Silvernagle responded with two in the ninth to keep it close, but one point for Homan in the tenth clinched it.
Saskatchewan third Stefanie Lawton had a hog-line violation in the decisive end and Ontario took advantage.
Silvernagle was making her debut at the national women's curling championship.
"Of course you want to be in that final game but we can't hang our heads low about not being there," Silvernagle told Gregory Strong of The Canadian Press. "For the first Scotties for three of us, it was fantastic and we had a ton of great shots throughout the whole entire week.
"We just came up a little bit short today."
Team Silvernagle finished the Scotties with an overall record of eight wins against five losses.
Team Homan was defeated by Alberta's Team Carey in the final 8-6.
