Three local teams showed their volleyball prowess last weekend. During the Senior Girls' 4A Volleyball East Regionals held at Humboldt Collegiate Institute (HCI) on November 10, teams from Humboldt, Lanigan and Wynyard won the top three spots in the tournament. "We won the East Regional Championship," said Keith Thompson, coach of the HCI Mohawks team. The Mohawks went up against the Wynyard team in the final, winning two sets to none. Lanigan faced PA Rivier in their final game, earning themselves a third-place finish. Thompson was impressed with the way his team worked together for the win. "The girls played really well," said Thompson. "They are a great team, very energetic, very positive and a great group of girls." All three teams will be headed to Provincials in Rosetown on November 18. "I'm really looking forward to seeing how they do in Provincials," said Thompson.
