The MASY Challenge is a synchronized swimming competition that annually features the best swimmers in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and B.C and the Yukon.
The North Battleford Water Doves had seven athletes qualify for the MASY Challenge, making up two teams. The event was in Calgary May 11 to 13.
In the 10 and under division, the trio of Keifer Gidych, Emma Kowalski and Courtney Roberts captured the attention of the judges and the gold medal.
The first place finish was just one of five for Saskatchewan on the weekend.
The other Water Doves to compete at the MASY Challenge, which marked the official end to the synchronized swimming season for the water Doves, were Jolie Bossaer, Kylie Burnett, Jenna Parker and Breah Weber.
This year the elite competition featured 237 athletes spanning seven categories.
Water Doves coach Sheila Parker says, "The girls did extremely well and we are very proud of them."
