The 12-2 Meadow Lake White Sox and 12-2 Lloydminster Meridian Twins both grabbed 1-0 series leads in the North Saskatchewan River Baseball League's semifinals Monday evening.
The Twins hosted Unity and cruised to a 12-2 win.
In Meadow Lake the Sox beat the Brewers 5-1. Meadow Lake led 2-1 heading into the fifth inning, but Meadow Lake scored four insurance runs including a Quincey Winkler two-run home run.
Craig Weran earned the win on the mound for Meadow Lake, while Robert Cey was saddled with the loss for Wilkie.
Game two of the Lloydminster/Unity series will be played Monday in Unity while the Brewers host Meadow Lake in the second game of their series Tuesday.
