Offensive lineman Jordan Elliott had a familiar face giving him directions while he was on the field in London, Ont. for the Canada Cup 2012 under 18 National Championship.
Elliott, the senior Viking offensive lineman was selected to the roster while North Battleford Comprehensive High School senior Vikings head coach Jamie Sommerfeld was part of the team, as the offensive line coach.
Sommerfeld and Elliott were in Ontario earlier in July and competed in the bronze medal match with Western Ontario July 21. Saskatchewan lost the game and finished the tournament in fourth. After winning their first game against Ontario East and losing in the semifinal to Quebec, who went on to win the tournament.
Saskatchewan went 1-2 during the eight-day tournament.
In 2010, NBCHS defensive co-ordinator and Battlefords Minor Football coach Mike Hummeny was the head coach for team Saskatchewan at the Canada Cup.
