Although it was overcast, cool and rainy Monday, there were still 26 New Horizons out on the golf course.
Three teams and on a count-back to hole six, it was decided that the Scott team takes the top honours.Along with Wally and Bernice were Brian Miller and Merv Zulynik. Wally will also get his car washed courtesy of the Co-op for having the longest putt on nine.
Second place goes to the threesome of Norm Soiseth, John Dove and Bruce Dalshaug while the team of Lynn Williams, Bruce Chadwick, Dick Blom and Bud Moar win the third place prize. Dave Page came closest to the pin on eight winning a prize as well.
Five strokes back of the top groups was the consolation team of Art Strueby, Jim Fraser, Gerry Bristow and Ali Raycraft.
Because of the long weekend, the New Horizons were also out on the course Thursday. Thursdays appear to be the best time for the New Horizons to golf, or least it was last week when it was cold and windy. There were 27 who showed up before the 8:30 a.m. tee time.
One team consisting of Soiseth, David Page, Lynn Williams and Herman Friesen topped all others by coming in one under par. It was reported by Soiseth that Friesen helped out considerably with the win and after many witnessed his drive on the first tee they all understood.
In second place at one over was the team of Zulynik, Olive Hein, Ken Schwab and Moar. The second place team was followed by Jim Fraser, Dalshaug, Lyle Whitbread and Bristow.
Dove on his first time out this year showed the rest how to golf by coming closest to the pin on eight.Aron Cadrain on his fist time out ever, who sank the longest putt on nine to win the Co-op car wash.
The consolation prizes go to John MacFarlane, Ali Raycraft, John Yarske and Ken Holiday.
The New Horizons skip playing next Monday due to the Wayne Pruden Memorial Tournament but will play Thursday once again.
